Fusion: New Student Orientation Day 4 – Tuesday, Sept. 2

This day is designed to help students learn about the larger Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor Community; through programs like, Community Plunge, a volunteer experience and Fit for Fun, a two mile walk/jog around campus. Later, students enjoy Ypsi Fest where local establishments welcome and feed students, on us of course! The University is open for regular business hours on Tuesday.

  • Breakfast (8:30-10:15 a.m.) The Commons
  • Fit for Fun (8:30 a.m.) Snow Health Center
    Get your year started off the healthy way by joining in an optional two mile walk/jog around campus. Walkers, joggers and expert athletes are welcome!.
    Special prizes for the first 100 participants. (Start time: 8:30 a.m. in front of Snow Health Center. Look for details in your Fusion packet.)
  • Community Plunge! (9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.) Depart from EMU Student Center
    Help local service organizations paint a swing set, stock shelves at a food bank pantry, take inventory of supplies at the women’s shelter or plant, garden and clean up the grounds at the senior center. It’s an opportunity to feel good and take pride in our community. It’s also a great way to learn about the world you live in. ** To sign-up, http://www.emich.edu/vision/ or when you arrive at Fusion.
  • YpsiFest Lunch/Shopping (11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.) Ypsilanti
    Go straight from Community Plunge! or Fit For Fun to the hugely popular YpsiFest.Have a meal out on the town — on us! Free shuttle service runs throughout the afternoon from campus to many downtown and Depot Town retail and dining establishments. Grab an ice cream cone or a burger and chill.
